Alternative Toothache Pain Remedy

In treating toothache pain, the dentist’s advice is always the best. However, if you do not have enough budget for a professional service, you can always look for out-of-the-ordinary solution that won’t sacrifice your finances while addressing your problem. These alternative remedies may or may not give you the instant relief that you need depending on the severity of your tooth condition. If you are complaining for a simple toothache, I believe these solutions are enough to give you relief.

  1. Most common alternative solution for toothache is the saltwater gargle. Mix one teaspoon of salt in a small glass of warm water (just warm enough to be gargled) and swish on your mouth specifically targeting the aching tooth as long as you can hold it. Repeat as needed to lessen the pain.
  2. If you want a fast relief, you can drop the clove oil directly to the affected tooth.
  3. Also try putting in your aching tooth a cotton ball soaked in vanilla extract. It works.
  4. A slice of bread can also help you especially of there are exposed nerves in your problem tooth. Bite down a slice of bread on the tooth because it can stop the air from striking the nerve which is the very sensitive part. When there is no air, there will be no pain on the tooth.
  5. Try chewing a cinnamon gum and fill it around the aching area. It burns a little but it can put out the pain. More sensitive tooth can fell more burning effect from the gum.
  6. Apply anise on the problem tooth and rub long the gum line using a q-tip. Make sure you do it on both inner and outer part of your gum. You can feel the relief almost instantly.
  7. A strong mouthwash can temporarily ease the pain but if you want relief for a longer period of time (which I know you would) try brandy, scotch or whiskey. The high alcohol content of the said liquors can work like the mouthwash.
  8. Mash a raw potato, add a little salt and apply it on the affected area. You can also just put a slice of fresh potato, holding it in place until the pain is relieved.
  9. If your tooth is not sensitive to cold, you can put a slice of chilled cucumber on the problem tooth. It can give you immediate relief to your tooth pain. However, if you are sensitive to coldness, you can put the cucumber on a room temperature before putting it on your tooth.
  10. Cold compress can help numb the pain of aching tooth. Put the cold compress on the cheek where your aching tooth is and wait until it numbs the tooth.
  11. If cold compress doesn’t work for you because of sensitivity, use a hot compress instead. This may lessen the swelling that gives the painful feeling.

Above all the remedies above, prevention is always better than cure so you better take care of your teeth and gums if you don’t want to suffer from the nightmare of tooth pain.
